    Study watercolor techniques with Jim Beech at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). In this course you will learn basic and intermediate concepts to produce beautiful watercolor paintings! Classes will begin with basic art concepts and a review of drawing, color, design and techniques. Weekly demonstrations and practice of fundamentals, including the use of shortcuts, photos and watercolor techniques. The final weeks will be a student project of your choice.

    Supply List: 
    • Paper: 140 lb. professional grade paper such as Arches, Saunders, Windsor Newton or Fabriano Artistico
    • Paints: Alizarin Crimson, Cobalt Blue, New Gamboge, Vandyke Brown, Scarlet Lake, Prussian Blue, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Sienna, Thaylo Green, Ultramarine Blue, Aureolin, Ivory Black, Indigo Blue, Neutral Tint
    • Brushes: For this course - suggest; 2" flat, 1" flat, 1/2" flat, #4 round, #6 round, #12 round, #16 round, #4 rigger

The Visual Arts Center serves Charlotte County, and beyond, with three major galleries, 6 classrooms, jewelry, glass, pottery & fiber studios, Gift Shop, Art Supply Store, and VAC logo items. Our 12,000 square foot facility provides the best art classes, instructors and exhibit opportunities for the community. Our courses are designed for all ages and skill levels, and we offer classes and workshops in a variety of arts media throughout the year.
