  • Introduction to Textile Surface Design 

    Study design with Cheryl Montale at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). This class will provide an overview of a variety of techniques that create pattern on fabric, including use of synthetic and indigo dyes, stitch resist / shibori, stenciling, and botanical printing. Each week a small project will be created utilizing these techniques. In addition, students will be introduced to the basic procedures and safety precautions of handling fabric dyes, both synthetic and natural. 

    Students should wear old clothes or bring an apron, bring rubber gloves, and a towel. 

    $40 Material Fee to Instructor.

Our 12,000 square foot facility provides the best art classes, instructors and exhibit opportunities for the community. Our courses are designed for all ages and skill levels, and we offer classes and workshops in a variety of arts media throughout the year.
