Learn to make Jewelry with Instructor Karyn Warner Hammock at the Visual Arts Center (VAC). Learn to create striking jewelry with Copper & Silver Metal Clay … which is both fun & approachable. Precious Metal Clay (PMC) can be a beginners dream as well as a new technique & look for the established jewelers to add to their repertoire. Beginners can learn to create complete pieces with-out soldering…basic techniques can be as simple as cutting out cookies! Experienced jewelers can learn an entirely new way to create finished jewelry, as well as complement their other metal work with hand sculpted elements. You will learn the techniques to create original pieces, torch fire & kiln fire, set stones in seconds, finish & shine, and much more.

What is PMC? It is a clay made of microscopic metal particles and organic binders. When you fire the dried clay, the binders back away and you have pure metal jewelry. This workshop will work with copper clay to keep prices affordable. (See Class Schedule for Copper & Silver Metal Clay Classes).

Material Fee: Instructor will have Art Clay Copper (50g) available for you to purchase at a $20 fee (prices may vary slightly with market pricing).

    Supply List:

The instructor will have everything else you need to create your jewelry, but if you have any of the following, feel free to bring along:

    • Polymer clay tools: roller, cutting blades, shaped cutters, texture sheets
